The wreck happened in Kings Park, near Indian Head Road and Manitou Trail, at around noon Friday, Feb. 28.
A 64-year-old Kings Park man was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by a Lexus SUV driven by a 34-year-old Kings Park woman, Suffolk County Police said.
The bicyclist was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said. The SUV driver and her passenger were not injured.
